FORMULATION AND CHARACTERIZATION OF ASTAXANTHIN LOADED SELF NANO EMULSIFYING DRUG DELIVERY SYSTEM (SNEDDS)

Aim and Objective: SNEDDS (Self Nano Emulsifying Drug Delivery System) is an isotropic mixture of oil, surfactant, co-surfactant which forms nanoemulsions spontaneously when comes in contact with gastric fluid thereby increasing the solubility active substances. Astaxanthin one substances having low so it suits well this nanoformulation. This study aims to formulate characterize SNEDDS.
 Methods: research a laboratory experimental using spontaneous emulsification method.
 Results: was made 3 formulations by ratio surfactants co-surfactants that were characterized produce transmittance value F1 91%, F2 90%, F3 95%, particle size 183.75 nm PDI 0.272, 195.25 0.341, 105.75 0.392. The entrapment efficiency (%EE) Astaxanthine found be as follows; F1, F2, had 94.62, 94.35, 95.57% EE respectively. results showed surfactant concentration 72% 18% best formula forming Conclusion: It can concluded higher concentration, greater its ability reduce interfacial tension oil droplets obtain small sizes high values.
